Japan in a word My Darling Duck Trust Issues
To serve and protect The tendency to abuse The need to be overruled The too quickly pulled gun Shot at whim Dog then child dead Back story told on how this tragedy did unfold The mutt was much loved And the mutt did much love—the family, which it protected But one day distracted It did chase a cat under a car And barked loud and harsh Scaring the lady within Who in terror jabbed nine one one On her cellphone Dog left off with master's call Returned to the house its home And was leashed and scolded The master, the father of the house back to the road working on his van Didn't notice when the police did come Only when his loyal mutt barked defensively and charged to the edge of the steps Did he turn and notice the intruder with hand on holster who said “Call him off.” The master did step forward to try and catch the leash But the policeman took a step back And mutt did step forward Still barking defensively Sensing his master behind him moving closer Seeming to the mutt's brain That he was being backed up, supported in the defense of home Policeman pulled his gun “I'll shoot him.” He backs up Mutt steps forward He stops Mutt stops He backs up Mutt steps forward Master says “Please don't” Policeman says “I'll kill him.” Then calmly shoots again and again and again and again Screaming inside the house The dog no longer barks The master's daughter comes out holding his grandson dead Ricochet bullet in the head And so this story ends With the moral That guns are abused whenever they are used
