A. Timeline—note: This is a greatly simplified timeline that has included only the dates and details that I thought you might find relevant.
~190,000 BC. 200 “gods” and various lessors arrive at Planet X. The trans-universal vehicle they use becomes the planet’s moon. The moment after the gods arrive they are expelled into the planet’s newly created “abyss”. 49 gods are lost in the expulsion, leaving 151 to rule the planet at a distance. Seed population of elvs/fyne/ogs taken as slave races. Some gypsy Goblins come along. Age of the great races, Garnines, Devils, Hujewls, Giants, Ralais (Lessor Elementals), Dragons, Greater Wolves, Vampires, Pixies Brownies, Goblins, Imps, Saevases, Golden Eagles and others.
~180,000 BC. Dawn of the first age of elvs. Rise of the first elvn civilization—first of the humanoids (humanoid being from or of human relation). Before this time groups were smaller.
~175,000 BC. Dawn of the free fyne. Escaped fyne succeed with the help of elvs in starting their own civilization.
~170,000 BC. Dark Age, fall of the elvs. Seeing the success of civilization Daevases try to force it with their slaves. Their elvs and fynes succeed to an extent but their ogs fail and some run wild and soon begin raiding the attempts of their fellows to be civilized. Tyranny seeks out the ogs and sets them in a war against the free elvs and fyne. The fyne baracade themselves under the earth abandoning the elvs to their fate as the elvs refuse the offer to follow them underground. The free elvs fall and are scattered, but the slave elvn civilization also collapses, and so begins a dark age.
160,400 BC. Dawn of the second age of elvs. Two great elvn kingdoms rise up and join together. A new elvn age is born with the rise of this empire. They seek to incorporate all elvs, from small chiefdom to tribe to family. With the aid of Koraeshee they are a war machine, and tyranny starts to convert them.
159,300 BC. Fearing this aspect after over a thousand years of conquering, society bans Koraeshee from worship. But as a result the empire no longer spreads, peace reigns and their borders solidify to keep out the raiding ogs. Koraeshee breaks tradition in the abyss and battles with Father of Elvs, “Eilistraee” comes to his aid. And since she started the fight her sister fellow Furies can't aid her against an Ally. They would have to face the whole Peris which would have draw all the abyss into conflict. They choose not to intervene. She was stripped of her godhood and banished to the Moon.
159,154 BC. Begins the reign of the Great Empress who starts the golden age. It is an age of great building and works. Even inventions.
158,850 BC. First treaty with a fyne kingdom. Though some elvs still remember the fyne badly for abandoning their ancestors. Fynes find it very profitable to supply the elvn empire from their mines. With these raw materials the empire becomes greater and with new technologies much denser. Though long lived they grow to have a population greater then all other races. This is the height of elvn dominance. A golden age that will stretch for nearly forty thousand years before a true fall occurs.
119,692 BC. War. End of the golden age. The elvn empire is now feared by a growing number of gods. The elvs have discovered what would later allow the humans to become Slavaers. The technology of the powyr crystals. Cyrstal crafting has reached a level which threatens the gods, it is being used to enslave the great races, even dragons. Even tyranny sees the danger. So on this day the gods, some very reluctantly decide to strike down the elvn empire. At first it seemed the shock of their gods and all gods telling them to disband might be enough, but the empire held together and the churches were put down. So united the gods go to war and are surprised that they are held back. They make allies of any enemies around and within the elvs. And in the centuries to follow the slower breeding of the elvs finally takes its toll and the empire begins to shrink.
119,354 BC. The Breaking. A peace agreement is reached in which all offending knowledge and technology is wiped out. This secures peace with some of the gods, but most still fear that they will simply rise again. Some gods decide to force the issue and betray the peace after the technology is gone. They support an army of revolutionary elvs who sack their own capital, even as non elvn armies break through the empire's borders. In addition a huge force of Rabbasks bred in the abyss with some ki training sweep in and decimate. The revolutionary elvs take the city and the empire is broken. A half dozen strong and a multitude of weaker elvn kingdoms survive the breaking. Some thrive others will fade out, but soon the population of elvs will drop below that of ogs and fynes. Also the gods garrison the world against the threat of said technology or the rise of an elvn empire again.
119,250 BC. The age of Fyne dominance begins. The kingdoms of fyne through rivalry rise in dominance and build great halls and pursue inventions in very different directions then elvs. It was thought that since powyr was not something they worked with they would be safe.
115,400 BC. Birth of the gnome. Finally the gods take notice of the advances of the fyne and their great hidden worlds beneath the earth. For millennium they have carved a world beneath the world. The gods see that ogs were not quite suited to go after the fyne, and fyne/og breeding rarely succeeded and was always sterile. They needed something small that could handle the underground, but tough enough to face the fyne. So they mixed Ogs with Earth Imps and found a good balance for their task in a creature that came to be know as a gnome. Gnomes had a thing for powyr and it was thought they wouldn't have the intelligence to pursue technology. The gods subsidized the development of a gnome civilization that dug into the earth and relied heavily on the gods.
113,200 BC. War between elvs and fyne. The gnomes survived but did not advance fast enough for the gods even by their time. The fyne had achieved a wondrous civilization that although occasionally was marked by war, rivaled in its own way what the elvs had created. The industrial revolution had come and science was being explored with a speed that truly frightened the gods. This pace made the elves seem slow as snails in comparison. So the gods decided to do a strange thing they instigated a war between elvs and fyne while at first strongly supporting the elvs. Not all the elvn kingdoms participated, but most were drawn into it, as were the fyne kingdoms. Familiar technology marvels, combustible engine/electricity/telephone/gun powder. The focus was downward. They could predict earthquakes, harness geothermal energy, and what truly grabbed the god's attention was that they had been playing with high explosives to dig, as in atomic energy—though the actual bomb was just being theorized an avatar of a god hears of it and this idea finally spurs the gods to action in getting the elvs to wage war.
113,140 BC. The elvs have powyr one their side and the fyne have technology, but the fyne are happered in there use of high explosive underground since it is their home and would be a rear guard action. The fyne held their own but couldn't advance into the surface lands, the trade break down devastated their economies and without centralization the separate kingdoms began to wane in power.
112,800 BC. The fyne retreat deeper into the earth. Some went so deep they would over the millennium become a separate race. The war waned but would flare up over the following millennium. Meanwhile gnomes and a breed of og began to move into abandoned fyne areas. The industrial revolution of the fyne is broken on the verge of great discoveries. Having to leave most of their great cities and blowing some of them up, the fyne lost a certain will to build so grand again so they became less connected as a race and lived in smaller holes with less technology.
90,000 BC. Koraeshee. A civilization grows on the moon under the shadow of the gods and the abyss. The civilization is of the greater races and the gods allow it to continue. They work out travel between the moon and planet X so that it is not necessary to go through the abyss. They also make tentative other connections through the abyss and other ways with other worlds. They develop a relationship with an elvn kingdom. And that relationship spreads to others until...
88,000 BC. Moon Empire/The Golden Age of the Moon. With the grand capital of the moon Planet X has a new golden age, elvs and gnomes are eager participants, and even some fyne join, only the ogs fight it. It is a golden age not of powyr or technology but one of beauty, of art and enjoyment... eventually decadence. Koraeshee hides herself as best she can and is a driving force behind the moon empire. She burns with a need for vengeance, but has been aged by the fast time—the passing of millennium, No longer a Goddess, no longer truly immortal she having gotten a messure of revenge entombs herself and goes to sleep. What she assumes will be her final sleep. Her tomb on the moon is forgotten as was her role in building the Empire of the Moon. She was more of an adviser anyway, too ancient to be of any other good.
87,998 BC. One reason why she was forgotten was that after just two years she was expelled into the abyss. She had been close enough to Godhood that being immobile for two years allowed her to be caught in the Mother's Net. The slower time lets her survive floating asleep at the edge of the abyss slowly loosing her powyr as she dies.
84,000 BC. Some elvs say this is their long awaited Third Age. The Golden Age is still going strong but a few groups have cut themselves off realizing the stagnation that is occurring.
40,000 BC. The Court of the Moon has developed so many rules for everything that is not just ogs that are judged uncivilized but anyone can be—a repressive system. Decline of Beauty. The Golden Age is effectively over though many refuse to except it. It is no longer a time of beauty but a time of rules controlled by the greater races, who are basically direct servants of the Gods. Over the next millennium a few kingdoms will successfully break away, until the rest are forcibly held within the Moon Empire.
37,000 BC. Tyranny seizes control of the abyss, though it had been leaning this way for some time. They set up a huge slave program to commence building projects within the abyss itself on a scale that had dwarfed anything done until that time.
20,000 BC. Tyranny looses conrtol of the abyss but much of the slave network remains intact. Even the Society gods can see how it keeps the lesser races from advancing dangerously.
7220 AD. Planet X conquered by a slavaer house (Slavaers are human—basically). The house has a crystal that is an enslaved being 1,000 times more powerful than any one of the “gods”. This power is used to uniform the planet to the galactic earth standard for year/day/gravity among other things. Repit, Gremlin, and Fenine introduced by the house as slaves and servants suited to different climates. They are also used to fight/spy on the elvs, fyne and gnomes. The ogs are also driven deep into the wilds or reasonably tamed. Koraeshee, it has been like a year in human in eyrh terms a comma, she is woken by one of her sisters. Their worst fears were realized—mortals have the powyr crystal technology. They had know about her floating in the abyss and had been content to do nothing, but with this new threat, her sisters pooled and restored her immortality using a crystal they had captured during a battle, though she was still the weakest, and although got youthful again retained some traces of true age—ie her pure white hair. As long as she has the crystal implanted she is a goddess, when she takes it out she can for a brief time walk the mortal realm.
9840 AD. Due to the decline of the galactic empire and the house’s fear of becoming infected by rebellion or worse the accursed, Planet X becomes the first planet to successfully declare and maintain it’s independence from the empire.
9950 AD. Assassination of house family nearly succeeds. Planet wide ban made against technology (ie. electricity/guns), psi (psionics) and ki (monks) guilds. All people and things found relating to those three things are destroyed in the great cleansing.
10,100 AD. Slavaer house retires to the moon and the old gods take over Planet X--Koraeshee is not allowed to support avatars and is delegated to Abyssal Overseeing. Tyranny pumps up the og populations. As the other gods try to pump up their favorites.
10,500 AD. The crystal is reformed and dispersed. This triples the size of the abyss and creates a kind of purpose to “magic”. Thus begins a great renaissance of magic. This hastens the revival of the elvn civilization. In the turmoil Koraeshee ambition lets her claim a new huge unworked portion of the abyss, but it needs slaves to work it. She begins her search for the right group she can secretly support in exchange for slaves.
11,400 AD. Dawn of the fourth age of elvs. Two of the greatest elvn kingdoms unite as was once done and do the system of back and forth. Birth of the new elvn empire.
13,800 AD. ***“The Korai were once nomadic desert Elves living freely and worshiping their goddess of song, Eilistraee. While dignified and cultured these Elves were still looked down upon by their city dwelling cousins of the forest and river nations. Resentment on behalf of the Korai, then called by a name long forgotten, turned into open hostility after their chosen prince was disallowed from courting the reigning queen in time honored tradition.”***
13,810 AD. ***”After several brief but bitter skirmishes the Korai were pushed back into the deep desert. While taking shelter from a massive sandstorm the Korai Prince discovered a secret passage in a rock outcropping and soon found himself in the heart of a ruined Duerregar city. Whatever had wiped out the Dwarves had no apparent interest in money or wealth for the clans of the Korai discovered treasures in abundance. The Prince of the Korai, being a wise and cunning Elf sent eight of his bravest warriors in all the directions of the wind to find Non-Elven races with whom they could trade. Months later the two strongest warriors returned with good tidings, there was a Human settlement SE of the ruins and a Gnomish settlement some weeks to the NE. Rather than trade for weapons and mercenaries to help the Korai combat their cousins the wise Prince traded much of the wealth for knowledge. Skilled Human blacksmiths and miners came to teach the Korai the crafts of finding and unearthing metal along with the secrets of the forge. Powerful Gnomish wizards taught the Korai magic beyond their own feyborne skills and inventors took Korai creativity in whole new directions of art, craft and engineering. Quickly the Korai turned a crumbling rock face into a sizable trading fortress and the Dwarven ruins grew into the first great city of Korai.”***
14,000 AD. Prince ? born—magic about—he is an elvn angel, but blessed by Koraeshee with white hair and black skin (Special ritual gives good chance for blessed, special special ritual gives chance of elvn angel—but Koraeshee decrees that their should only be one at a time—he is her Avatar her blade. ***”Family ties had always been strong amongst the Clans of Korai, with the elders trusting their children to guide the fate of the Clans. This trait grew even stronger as the Korai pressed further into the deep. Families who found veins of ore or gemstone could increase their status amongst the gathered clans as well as amass even greater wealth. Before long, other cities of Korai began to rise, each ruled by their founding family. The deep however, was not without its share of dangers; numerous races already considered the endless depths their home and fought for their territory, among their number were savage alien creatures. Every city of Korai was built around a family and their warriors academy. Whichever family could establish a strong academy taught by their weaponmaster could maintain the soldiers necessary to hold newfound borders. Those families with weaponmasters who were poor teachers or used strange methods of combat quickly fell from site.”*** The massive flux of magic catalyzed the birth of many new creatures, the worst that survived to breed retreated into the fyne depths.
14,750 AD. ***”Nearly a millennia later a new Elven Queen was crowned. Borne of a tolerant and peace-loving House her first decree was that she would reunite the then distant Elven Kingdoms. She dispatched numerous emissaries of peace and all were welcomed save one; the emissary to the Korai could not find the nomadic Elves of the Burning Desert, indeed he reported that it was a if they had been "swallowed by the sands." While the new was met by superior countenances from many noble Houses the Queen sent out several expeditions to either locate the lost Elves or determine what fate had befallen their number. Some eighteen years passed before the last expedition heard rumors of Elves, black as night, who kept a fortress keep in the furthest reaches of the deep desert. Scarcely believing, the Forest Elves began their trek to the fortress. On their journey they were shocked time and again to hear traveling caravans refer to them as pale Korai or ghost Korai. They began to hear stories, to wild to be believed, of underground cities the size of mountains and magic items of unspeakable power; surely these could not be the lost Elves who were little more than savages thought the expedition leaders but they pressed on curious to learn who truly lived in this most hostile of environs and commanded such respect from the other races. After a month's travel the expeditionaries were stunned at the beauty and dark splendor of the desert fortress called Sunfire Keep. The Elves were beside themselves to stand before the once savage Korai, now masters of their own city state. Unfortunately for them the Korai had not forgotten the insults done them. With a martial skill never before seen the Korai cut down the party of Forest Elves and the Human caravan that brought them; save two. The leader of each party was brought before the Prince of the Korai who blinded the leader of the expedition to prevent him from ever finding his way back to Sunfire Keep. In a dark proclamation the Prince told the expeditionary leader that their could be no peace amongst Elves and that the Human would escort him back to whatever rock from under which he had found the Elf and never again help their kind on penalty of death, fortune, and the lives of their loved ones. Terrified of the Prince the human took the Forest Elf back to the settlement where they had met, placed him on the first boat leaving and related the gruesome tale to anyone who would listen. The Human Kingdoms, not wanting to loose their profitable trade agreements, quickly issued laws promising death and worse to any aiding the 'Pale Korai'.”***
14,754 AD. ***”The Ten Day War, as it is now known, ended in dramatic fashion. To their credit the Surface Elves fought with honor and skill but they were outnumbered against veteran soldiers on their own terrain, even so there was one moment when it looked as though the Elves might triumph, a single noble borne warrior called upon the All Father for aid and began to glow white with His energy, he then led his soldiers in several successful pushes into the lines of the Korai. That evening the true nature of the Korai was revealed. As darkness fell thousands of a new breed of Korai burst forth from the Keep, black as night with hair that shone like the light of the moon.
Many of the Korai had already begun changing from exposure to the strange radiation of the depths and the unknown metals found there, these Korai were at home in the darkness and slaughtered Elves by the hundreds under the cover of night. Still the Surface Elves might have prevailed behind their blessed champion, but the Korai had a champion of their own. He strode forth from the keep in a wave of darkness blacker than night, his eyes burned with an unholy fire and he sent Elves to their graves with a sweep of his hand. “Velkyn”, Prince of the Korai, challenged the Elven hero to mortal combat and tore his still beating heart from his chest. The morning sun rose to see every Elf that had fought his ground dead and the sound of twenty thousand Soldiers of Korai cheering their Prince...”***
15,000 AD. ?, elvn angel, Avatar, Prince, instrument and occasional lover of Koraeshee, when she deigns to walk the mortal plane. He acts a bit rebellious so Koraeshee decides to replace him with her child by him. Time passing too slowly in the abyss for her child Velkyn to age quick enough she sends him to his father to live and be trained, she secretly avatars him to make she he stays loyal.
15,200 AD. ? discovers Koraeshee's plan and sets to kill him. The son manages to escape with some loyalists into the “underdark”. ? Angry at the betrayal, demands Koraeshee to send Velkyn back or he will close the Korai to her. She asks Velkyn to go back but he is tired of the games and refuses. Frustrated with the situation Koraeshee goes herself and kills ? and replaces him with their daughter who is still very much a child. She avatar's a regent as best she can until her daughter has trained enough to become the new Avatar and absolute ruler of the Korai. Koraeshee knew only the direct threat of her coming in person to kill is what kept her daughter in power long enough for her to assert herself. Still, worried Koraeshee has her daughter have one child with six worthy men. The first born will replace her but the five others will go on to rule the houses of their fathers. In this way the six great houses were created, which grew over the years into nine, into twenty, into all the houses being ruled by the blood directly tied to Koraeshee.
15,250 AD. Meanwhile Velkyn founds what will grow into the city of Velkyth.
15,300 AD Dispute is settled peacefully between main city and Velkyth trading post.
15,350 AD Seed city from main city asks main city to aid it in taking Velkyth. Main city says no because it is her elder brother though Koraeshee is tempted to overrule her. The daughter has a kind of secret awe of her brother, she still remembers him from the abyss, he played with her when she was a baby.
15,650 AD Velkyth has grown strong, but worshipers of Koraeshee are hardly present. Koraeshee decides she can no longer abide this and orders her daughter to have him killed/removed and the city subjugated.
15,652 AD Velkyn leads his city in battle to defend against the main city. The defense succeeds but he knows not for ever. He seeks allies and discovers the Vampirelord. He promises him the power to overcome all foes. Velkyn warily agrees and is suppled with vampires and their minions to help in battle. In return Velkyn must agree to serve the Vampirelord and the only way to do that is to become a vampire. But unlimitedly it was a trick. The Vampirelord was allied with Koraeshee and Velkyn underestimated the sway over his will the Vampirelord and the Succubi had. At least as a new vampire. The vampire that made Velkyn was an Avatar for the Vampirelord and so was one of the most powerful of its kind. Velkyth became a puppet state still ruled by Velkyn but really through him.
15,800 AD The vampire that made him is killed—accident? Velkyn is free but instead of destroying the city he found with war he leaves.
17,750 AD Velkyn is entombed, trapped by spells of warding.
28,500 AD. The Sharding begins. The “magic” has judged that the “gods” need to be replaced. They are shattered—each one into around a hundred pieces. So about 15,000 pieces—or shards total. For the next abyssal year, equal to about 200 regular years, worthy beings on Planet X will be chosen by “magic”, chance and the shard’s themselves. Once a being gets to “god” level after absorbing around a hundred shards they will be expelled to the abyss to rule as a god, of course there is 25% chance of being lost forever when this occurs.
28,700 AD. Sharding ends.
